Dear Parents,
I hope this email finds you, your children, and your caregivers healthy and safe. We continue to think about all of the children who brought life and vitality to our program everyday, and we wonder how they are doing. Our Spring Recital would have been this weekend. It has been nice to run into a few of you as I walk my dog or connect with some of you by email. Dancing on Zoom with some of the children has truly been a highlight of many of my days. I am grateful for all of the essential and front line workers in New York City and across the country who continue to keep us cared for, safe, and fed.
As I mentioned last month, we will refund all classes that were missed because of the COVID-19 closing of all non-essential businesses. We have waited to do these refunds until it was safer in NYC, as it requires a couple of us to go into the office to process the accounts. The health and safety of our staff is of the utmost importance. Even though non-essential businesses remain closed, we will begin to process these refunds next week. The process of refunding all families will take time as only two of us will be handling the refunds and we will not be traveling to the office everyday of the week. We expect the process to take a few weeks.
All regular classes will be refunded for the period starting Saturday, March 14th through the end of the semester (I have already been in communication with OMO and we will also be contacting Team parents separately regarding balances).
Some parents have already let us know that they do not wish to be issued a refund. We appreciate this deeply. If there are others who would like to forgo their refund, please send us an email at
discoveryprograms251@gmail.com. Please note, however, that we will not be able to credit this money toward future semesters. We understand that everyone is in difficult financial situations so there is no obligation. COVID-19 has put a huge strain on individuals and small businesses. We have just secured our PPP loan and have re-hired all staff for a definitive period of 8 weeks; however, we are not certain of summer or fall opening dates.
In the meantime, we are looking into offering virtual classes and camps and we invite you to take
this survey to provide us with your feedback.
The complimentary Zoom ballet offerings (schedule below) will end on June 12th (There will be no sessions on Memorial Day, May 25th).
I wish you continued safety and health. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us by email.
Warm wishes,
Katie Kheel
