A Note from the Director

Dear Parents,

Our Winter/Spring semester began and we are already at week four. Most children returned to their classes and some new friends joined us. This month our focus is friendships. Sam put together some highlights below. One of my favorite friendship moments from this past week is the caregivers that come to Playpark together. They requested a song for me to play and they had a little dance party. There are so many levels of friendships at Discovery!

We are in the middle of gymnastics competition season and it’s been a joy to see the gymnast’s perseverance through the highs and lows. We are starting to plan the Spring Dance Recital (see below) and the Black Belt Promotion in Martial Arts. Our Almost On My Own Class just started separation from their grown-ups this month and they are progressing so well. For those who have children turning 19-months or two-years-old by October 1st, you can consider our early childhood program for Fall 2025. Reach out to me to schedule a tour.

We are looking forward to a great semester and more friendships created throughout.

Friendship Month

This month, we’ve been celebrating friendship!

As a close-knit community, we have the opportunity to witness friendships blossom in classes, from toddlers to teenagers.

New friendships form so quickly at young ages. The two-year-olds greet each other and give hugs in the lobby before and after classes.

Before karate class one day, the students were helping each other tie their belts. When the instructor, Kyoshi Karin, came out to start class, she complimented them on tying their belts properly. One of the students said, “thanks, my friend did it!” The camaraderie is strong in these classes with the foundation of respect and appreciation.

On the gymnastics team, friendships form throughout practice and long competition weekends. They become each other’s cheerleaders and really support each other during both joyful and difficult moments. We’re proud of the community we’ve cultivated on the gymnastics team. The gymnasts are true friends who have grown up together and connect through the love of gymnastics.
